The second I found out I was pregnant, I couldn’t wait to start the quilt for my baby to be. But I knew I had to wait. I also had to sort through my stash to see if I wanted to use any of the fabric I currently had — and well to see what I actually had…
Then I found out we were having another girl. I knew I couldn’t use previously bought fabric, I had to get some new stuff! *Ekk so exciting*
I headed out to my local quilting shop, which I had never been to before, and picked out my new fabric for this beautiful quilt. It was a lot harder to pick out fabric for myself than for other people. I have made a few baby quilts in the past couple years — and only one was for my child. I ended up picking out the back fabric first. It is a beautiful Opulent Flowerful Dandle Panel from Art Gallery Fabrics. It is from the Lavish collection designed by Katarina Roccella. I then picked some Kona solids to go with it (pink and white, and navy for the binding)
I chose a simple herringbone pattern since this is one of the bigger quilts I have attempted to make. I made several half square triangle lined them up and sewed them all together. Since I am due at Christmas time, I wanted to get this done as soon as I can knowing that the holidays are going to be busy!! I quilted on my Singer Quantum Stylist 9960, and finished it today! yay!
So without further ado, here are the pictures of the finished quilt measured at 56.5″ each side (It’s square)!
I also love that I finished this during National Sewing Month!!! How perfect. Now a million other things to do to get ready for this baby!
